Return to Spring Break – Caribbean Cruise Mariner Of The Seas 3/2008

Day 5 St Thomas

Day 5 St Thomas
I’m assuming that because our last port was a foreign, everyone on the ship had to “Present Themselves” to Homeland security, everyone is required to show passport and sea pass card to homeland security, seems easy enough for a ship with approximately 3500 passengers and 1500 or so crew members, they used the dining rooms, the hardest of this was getting the 6 of us together, Gert and I took sugey and Heather was going to attempt to wake JR and meet us in line, the line moved quick, we had 2 seapass’s and 3 passports, SO Sugey had to go around again when Heather came back

Off the boat and off to see the “Best of St Thomas” Very unusual taxi’s, they are trucks with open air seating in the back, Once again a drive in the mountains, Gerty did alright on this one surprisingly, she must be getting used to mountain driving. First stop was a quick picture stop, then off to an overlook to view the Harbor with our ship, also in port was the Caribbean Princess, and Norwegian Dawn, at another dock was the Queen Mary so a busy day for the island.

Next stop was mountain top, which was at the top of the mountain. Nice picture spot and several shops to buy stuff. And of course there was a coke machine. The weather is still windy and overcast with bit’s of spit from the sky, the wind made it feel cool, the day did clear up and the sun did come out. Next stop was the great house, which we were told was first sold for 400.00, big beautiful house with very nice gardens and awesome views. Next stop was in town for shopping, it seems that every other store was a jewelry store, we went to the Del Sol store to get our free lanyard and headed the 2.5 mile walk to the boat,

Battery getting low… more tomorrow on our Sea Day…..
