Disney Magic Hosts First Call Ceremony in Miami

Newly Reimagined Ship Celebrates Season of New Itineraries Departing from Miami
MIAMI, Florida (October 25, 2013) -Disney Cruise Line Captain Robert Olmer and his shipboard officers today
hosted local port officials and community leaders aboard the 2,700-passenger Disney Magic for a plaque exchange ceremony. A maritime tradition, this event celebrates the relationship between the ship and the destination in honor of her first call. The Disney Magic now begins sailing four- and five-night Western Caribbean and Bahamian itineraries departing from Port Miami.
“We are very excited to bring the newly reimagined Disney Magic to Miami for the very first time,” said Disney Cruise Line Captain Olmer. “Our guests have told us they want more opportunities to sail to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, and to the Caribbean and Bahamas from Florida, and many families find Miami a convenient homeport.”
More than 3,000 Imagineers, crew members, and construction workers came together in the most extensive dry
dock in Disney Cruise Line history to artfully refashion the Disney Magic, adding new features and experiences to
surprise and delight our guests. From the addition of the thrill slide, AquaDunk, to a completely redesigned spa
experience and the Marvel Avengers Academy, there are new things to discover around every corner of the Disney
Magic.
After completing its Miami itineraries in early January, the Disney Magic will reposition to Port Canaveral to sail
three- and four-night cruises to the Bahamas and Castaway Cay. The Disney Wonder, its sister ship, will begin
sailing from Miami on four-night Bahamian and five-night Western Caribbean cruises through May. This is the
second time the Disney Wonder will be sailing from Miami since the ship’s first itineraries from this port in December
2012.
