Papenburg, 24 March 2011 – MEYER WERFT launched the production of the first steel plate for the new giant cruise liner Celebrity Reflection for the cruise operator Celebrity Cruises (Miami). The fifth ship of the Celebrity Solstice class will be delivered to Celebrity Cruises, in the autumn of 2012.
This extremely energy-saving type ofÂ ship for Celebrity has a length overall of 315Â m and is 36.8Â m wide. A total of five ships will be built, each offering space for accommodating 3,030 passengers in 1,515Â cabins. All standard cabins will be more spacious than they are on average. More than 90Â % are outside cabins, again 90% of which have their own balconies. The ships will be equipped with diesel engines and pod propulsion systems; the overall engine output will be 63,000Â kWh (approx 86,000Â hp).
